Whether you’re looking for the perfect rural setting for your wedding, have a big birthday coming up or need a meeting room for a business event, High Bickington Community Centre has both the space and the facilities to accommodate your event. We hold licenses for alcohol and live music, and our team of staff will be on hand to ensure that everything runs smoothly. You can view galleries of past events here.

You can choose to hire the whole of the Community Centre exclusively for your private function or simply hire one or more of our rooms/halls. MAIN HALL

Perfect for: All types of event including weddings with live bands, parties and business meetings. The main hall can hold 200 guests theatre style and 120 guests banqueting style. This is a large and versatile room that can be adapted and decorated with internal marquee fittings in order to host weddings and events (see photos of decorated rooms). The hall is 180 square metres (10metres x 18 metres).

Facilities: Sprung floor, cinema size drop-down screen, projection equipment, portable stage (6m x 5m)

A hatch in the Main Hall leads to a large, fully equipped kitchen.

THE PYNCOMBE ROOM

Perfect for: Conferences and business meetings. The Pyncombe Room is circa 60 square metres and suitable for up to 60 guests (approx). This is the most popular room for business meeting use due to its useful conferencing equipment and light, airy atmosphere.

Facilities: Projection screen and white board. Tables and chairs can be arranged to suit your event.

THE MEETING ROOM

Perfect for: Conferences and business meetings. The Meeting Room is smaller than the Pyncombe room and is suitable for up to 30 guests (approx) theatre style and 21 guests conference style. This is a recent addition and is a popular room for business meetings.

Facilities: Projection screen and Bluetooth speaker. Tables and chairs can be arranged to suit your event.

SPORTS HALL HIRE

We have a large and versatile sports hall that is available to hire both for sporting events and parties / functions. The Sports Hall is available to hire for many different types of sports and features court markings for matches. We have facilities for badminton, table tennis, rounders, hockey, cricket, golf, netball and football (badminton, football, netball and short tennis equipment can be hired for use on our Badminton Court). RECEPTION AREA / FOYER

The light and airy reception area is large enough to comfortably accommodate a mobile bar or buffet table. All rooms are accessible via this reception area and therefore it acts as an useful meet & greet or break out area.

The reception area boasts picturesque views across High Bickington and the surrounding North Devon countryside – a perfect backdrop for those stunning Wedding album photographs.

Kitchen

The Community Centre has a large fully equipped kitchen, complete with commercial dishwasher, double sinks, 2 x 60cm hobs & ovens, microwave, instant heat water boiler for tea, coffee, etc. We can supply crockery, cutlery and glassware for 100 covers. This is included in the hire price. We anticipate that most banqueting functions would have outsourced caterers, however we are happy to make recommendations for suppliers if required.

Alcohol and Licensing Laws

We do not have a permanently fitted bar at the centre, however we hold a full license for the sale of alcohol during the following hours:
Sunday to Thursday  10:00am – Midnight
Friday & Saturday 10:00am – 1:00am
New Year’s Eve 10:00am – 2.00am
We welcome guests to provide their own mobile bar, which may be placed within the function room or the foyer area.

Table and Seating Hire

We have plenty of round and rectangular tables, and 200 chairs for use throughout the building.

The Woodland and Parking

There is ample parking available onsite with space for 20 cars in the car park, as well as adjacent empty fields that can be opened up when further parking in required. We have plenty of open outside space and a superb award winning Woodland which is very popular for scenic wedding photo shoots, summer parties, outdoor activity courses, parties and events.

Internet Access and Wifi

Access points are fitted throughout the building, however please note that work is currently in progress to enable guests to access wifi. For more information about the status of this, please contact us.
